UHCCC is ranked under Plan 3 of Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services. A Plan 3 is basically a five- star rating for child care centers. It means that any, violations occur. The center takes only 160 children, even though it is licensed to care for up to 200. The reason for the cut-off is so that teacher/child ratios are kept low. In return the children are given more individual attention. Due to UHCCC's high standards, parents must sign up on a waiting list, which can take up to a year, and they must remain enrolled or employed at the University. It means a lot for parents to give their children the best opportunities in life. • by Linda Canales and Pin Lim sCeepan ttuckin' Children at the Center play outdoors in their plastic cars to have fun.
