Between finding a parking space and navigating through the large campus, students spent most of their first day orienting themselves to their new schedule. "I spent most of my first day trying to find a legal parking space," freshman psy- chology major S o n a A h 1 u wal i a said. Hoping to help students overcome problems they might face on their first day, faculty and staff joined together to create an agreeable first week. In addition to Cougar First Impressions, the staff at the Dean of Students' Office also helped many students during the first week of school through their Ombudservice. This service provided students with emergency loans, which allowed them to take care of payments. Many students were satisfied with the success of their first day of school. Ruby Morua, a junior accounting major, said the many services offered by staff and faculty been a welcome have change. "It's great to finally see faculty, staff and students come together to help new students," she said.
