Transcript Alumni host athletes in traditional banquet All-Sports Banquet The 1976 All-Sports Banquet was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Shamrock Hilton and sponsored by the UH Alumni Organization. This was ihe 7th annual banquet held in honor 3f the UH athletes. On hand were distinguished guests such as UH alumnus Fred Nahas, Vlaster of Ceremonies; Phil Harris, guest speaker; President Philip G. Hoffman; television personality Nancy Ames; and UH alumnus and television sports broadcaster Bill Worrell. Athletes were presented with awards for their particular sports. The recipients were: John Fischer — Swimming, Jerry Willeford — Baseball, Wilson Whitley — Football, Otis Birdsong — Basketball, Ross Walker — Tennis, Keith Fergus — Golf, Cecil Overstreet — Track and Tom Birch — Cross Country. In women's sports the honorees were Nancy Martini — Volleyball, Natalie Russell — Track, Diann Thomason — Tennis, Sylvia Ortiz — Badminton, Olivia Esparza — Basketball and Cindy Llewellyn — Swimming. Keith Fergus was presented with the Charles Saunders Award signifying him as the top athlete of the year. Special recognition was then given to retiring Track Coach Johnny Mor- riss and to Athletic Business Manager Ned Thompson for their work at UH. Left Fred Nahas acted as Master of Ceremonies for the 7th annual All-Sports Banquet. Above President Philip Hoffman expresses his words of gratitude to the athletes for their past performance.
