Transcript Kappa Alphas revive Dixie in fraternity ritual Old South Week Loyal Southerners probably could have heard the faint whistling of "Dixie" around campus in early April as the Kappa Alphas celebrated their 2nd Annual Old South Week. The KAs were cast along the lines of the chivalry of the Southern gentlemen, namely that of General Robert E. Lee. The week was highlighted by a parade of about fifteen "made-over" Confederate soldiers crossing the campus on horseback. Two Scarlett O'Hara-type southern belles rode in a buggy close behind. Upon their arrival before a crowd of curious students at the UC, a representative of Houston's Mayor Fred Hofheinz presented them with his signed proclamation. Awaiting sorority members then received engraved invitations to Saturday night's lawn party and ball.
