Transcript (Continued from page 252) The problems with individual players throughout the lineup only translated into poor team statistics and mounting losses. As a group, Houston shot 39 percent for the season, were outscored by 17 points per game, and outrebounded by five a game in C -USA play. Compounding this, the players had little control of the ball or themselves — Houston averaged 26 turnovers a game, and Lady Cougars fouled out 24 times. None of their five wins came against teams with winning records. Two of them came against Texas Southern, a team that was bad even when compared to the 1996-97 UH squad, considering the Tigers had never beaten the Cougars. The end result was the worst season ever for a Houston womens basketball team. The only good thing about the season was that it ended. The DePaul Blue Demons put a merciful end to Houstons season, blowing them out 100-75 in the opening round of the C -USA Championships in Chicago, 111. Following the DePaul loss all that was left to do was sift through the ashes.
