Transcript Bringing It Home SPB's purpose is to present events and activities and bring a sense of community to the campus." Director Andy Stublnski Lana Khawaja A favorite pastime of some University of Houston students is flocking to the University Center to watch a movie premiere. "I always go to the premieres because I get to see the movie before everyone else and its free, which is a big plus!' said Elizabeth Borski, sophomore engineering major. But many students don't know who goes to all the trouble to get these premieres to them. Thanks to the Student Program Board, UH students have a variety of enjoyment right here on campus. "SPBs purpose is to present events and activities and bring a sense of community to the campus!' said senior communications major Andy Stubinski, SPB director. SPB is a student-run organization which embodies eight subcommittees concentrating on different areas of campus programming: Homecoming, concerts, cinema, sound and lighting, visual and performing arts, video, special events and Speakers' Forum. "I like working on SPB because you have a range of options to choose from. We're always learning something new!' said senior communications major Robert Taylor. Some of the groups recent programs included premieres of new movies on campus, ski trips, appearances by well- known speakers (like MTVs Kennedy) and the production of concerts by numerous local bands at the UC Satellite. "SPB is always looking for friendly faces. The only requirement is to be interested in what you are doing!' Stubinski said. Taylor agreed, saying, "Since becoming involved with the group, it has helped me with my decision-making abilities and with leadership skills!'
