Transcript Campus On Film Don LeGrand Continuing an upward climb in membership, the Student Video Network enjoyed success through new productions and wider student awareness. "Everything is finally coming together, so I'm kind of sad I'll be graduating!' said Vice Chair of Operations Joe Breda. After an allocation of funds for new camera equipment and character generator from the Student Fees Advisory Committee, SVN members discovered projects were much easier to compete. SVN, a subcommittee of the Student Programming Board, receives funding from SPB, special projects and advertising. Membership grew to over 20, with seven officers. With the addition of more students, new programs were generated, planned and produced. "I feel like I'm doing something to benefit the school by working with SVN and giving students another information source than just the newspaper. I know UH is known as a commuter school, but people need to be more aware!' said Vice Chair of Advertising Melissa Bartholomew. "All Around UH," a newsmagazine show, was designed to create a visible outreach by looking at the campus and allowing viewers to look back. The program, co-sponsored by the Dean of Student Affairs' office, went live during the spring semester. The weekly variety show "Pirate TV aired Thursdays at 10 p.m. Students' Association President John Moore, among other student leaders, made several appearances to answer questions and address student concerns. SVN played campus-wide on a closed circuit broadcast in Cambridge Oaks Apartments and all residence halls. Several other student programs ran on SVN, such as sketch comedy "Young Pups," band showcase "Raw Flava" and comedy show "Ham Whiz!' "The Science Fiction Theater" hosted science fiction movies while "Video Outhouse" hosted movies like "Twister!' (Continued On Page 159) "Its a hell of a rush to do a show and have it go off well.
