Transcript The School of Humanities, Fine Arts and Communication is proud of Annmarie Drury, a recipient of this year's British Marshall Scholarship for creative writing. She is excited about attending the University of London, for a year as a student in its School of Oriental and African literature program. After completing a year, she will decide whether for her second year to attend Oxford, Cambridge or to continue her studies at the University of London. Annmarie will be getting a Masters in Compartive Literature and future plans include getting a Ph.D. in creative writing. Annmarie enjoys writing poetry and has attended the University of Houston for two years and will graduate this spring with a MA in Creative Writing. "I came to the University of Houston because the creative writing program is one of the best in the country,** she said. Originally from West Virginia, she got her undergraduate degree from Yale where she studied Swahili. "I did not want to study a romantic or Germanic language,** she said. "I had enrolled in several different foreign language classes at Yale, but became interested in studying Swahili.** People
