Transcript This summer. College of Architecture Assistant Professor Patrick A. Peters and 18 graduate students will utilize their skills and talents by developing and building a playground and outdoor science classroom for the University of Houston's charter elementary school. Under Professor Peters- guidance, participants will visit the construction site, design the structure, select materials, obtain necessary permits and coordinate the pref abrication of materials used. 1 "We do everything from tart to finish,** Peters said. M These outdoor classrooms are used mainly . for science classes, physical education and after-school program activities. Peters has taught this class for two years along with instructor George Sacaris. Peters has been with the college for IO years; he has been its coordinator for two years and director of the program for another two years. The design/build project is a requirement for students in the Level I graduate program, the three-year program for those who did not major in architecture for their undergraduate degrees. Last year, Peters and his graduate students developed a program and structure for a physical education class "rope course** for Pee Elementary'* courtyard.
