Transcript An unidentified lady vol- leyballer goes after one without looking in a hard- fought contest of the women's intramural volleyball tournament. Two teammates watch anxiously as she demonstrates the hard way to play the game. WOMEN'S INTRAMURALS Women's intramurals, guided by Miss Sue Garrison, head of women's athletics, continues to grow. In this, the fourth year of competitive intramurals, the female members of the University student body are taking a big part in the ever-expanding UH athletic system. A great deal of the credit goes to the Lanyard Club, women's physical education group. This year the women participated in basketball, volleyball, Softball, and badminton intramural contests. In fact, the only sport that the men can exclusively call their own is intramural football, and who knows but what that too may fall to the ambitious ladies in the future? Only the intramural volleyball was complete at Houstonian press time. In that tournament, marked by thrills and chills and squeals of both delight and anguish, the Wildcats showed that they were of the proper temperament and ability by walloping the Owls in the final game, 20-9, and winning the championship. Presenting the women's intramural volleyball champions, the Wildcats. Standing, left to right. Bobbye Jo Wadley, Marie Wilson, captain, Doris Gardner. Sitting, left. Jean Reynaud, right, Mary Tortorici. 326
