Transcript Gil Luton pivots to pass or shoot. A bewildered Oklahoma City university Chief waits to see which it is going to be. L. D. Hendrix (no. 30), and an unidentified Cougar stand by to render aid if needed. Final score: UH 52. OCU 45. GILBERT LUTON Forward UH SEWS UP GCC CHAMPIONSHIP Coach Alden Pasche's enthusiastic Cougar cagers stiched up the Gulf Coast conference crown February 8 at High School field house when the Trinity Tigers fell with a thunderous crash. The sharp Cougars, relying on speed in a dazzling offense, declawed the Tigers, trouncing them, 80-49. Thirteen U'H players participated, led by Hendrix (again) with 18, Richardson with 15, and marksman Bunky Bradford with 12. The next UH victim was Stephen F. Austin. The Cougars eased past the 'Jacks, 55-51, in Nacogdoches on February 11. Hendrix and Reichle had 10 apiece. The win was the UH's sixth in a row. Ending conference play in Wichita Falls, the UH spanked Midwestern, formerly Hardin college, 68-40, and won the GCC championship without a loss. Hendrix racked up 18, Richardson, 14. The season ended on a sour note for the UH. In New Orleans on February 25, the Cougars found a Tartar in Loyola of the South, and lost, 58-50. A bit of overconfid- ence may have aided the Louisianans. Hendrix ended the season by bagging 21 points. 318
