Transcript UH ANNEXES THREE IN ROW Sam Houston's Bearkats were next to collapse under the UH's homecourt onslaught. On February 1, the Red and White overwhelmed the 'Kats 85-57 in High School field house. The UH racked up fifty points in a blazing second half, paced by red-hot Herb Richardson, who had 22, and Hendrix, who marked up 17 tallies. Twelve Cougars saw action in this one, which was to be the highest scoring contest for the Red and White all year. Continuing their home-court winning streak, on February 4 the UH spanked Stephen F. Austin 62-47 in High School field house. Big center Rodriguez punched 20 points through the net to lead scorers. Keeneyed guard Richardson followed with 18. The Cougars had but a 27-26 edge at halftime, but the shooting of Rodriguez and Richardson, along with some fine defensive play by Coach Pasche's entire squad provided the second-half margin. A return match with North Texas' Eagles on February 6 found the UH more ready for Bennie Rutherford and company than in the first game, and the methodical Red and White crew ground out a 65-55 win in high school stadium. Rutherford probably as great a forward as the GCC will ever see, was "held" to 19 points. The game was a tight affair. The score was tied seven times in the first half. Hendrix, for the umpteenth time this season, led Cougar scorers with nineteen tallies. Sharp play by Berg and Richardson was marked throughout the entire contest. Dick Berg and Connie Pontikes join an unidentified Oklahoma City university Chief in an impromptu dance, and the ball goes bounding off, neglected. The Cougars beat the tall Chiefs 52-45.
