Transcript UH WINS TWO, LOSES ONE Back home in Texas, but still on tour the UH met the Texas Longhorns in Austin on December 19, and lost a heartbreaker, 42-44. At halftime, the score was knotted, 27-27. The Steers pulled it out of the fire only in the closing seconds. A lack of accuracy in the field hurt the tour-weary Cougars, who missed 41 out of 58 field goal attempts. Berg and Rodriguez paced UH scorers with 15 and 14 tallies respectively. Home at last after their disastrous tour, the Cougars met the Wichita university team in High School field house on December 30, and came from behind 35-37 at the half, to win over the Kansas squad, 72-66. Hendrix' fat 24 points for the night was a big factor in the mild upset. Reichle had 15 points, and Berg rang up 14. A strongly-favored Pepperdine five from Los Angeles was next to fall to the homecourt Cougars, 46-47. The closest contest to date for the UH at home, this one had fans on their feet all the way through. Marked by sharp defensive play, it was a seesaw affair with the score changing hands many times. The 13 points of Herb Richardson were tops for UH scorers for the night. His great defensive work, along with that of Berg and Reichle, were a decisive factor in the UH's fourth consecutive win on home grounds. Dick Berg and an unidentified Cougar cop the oval from three Hardin college (Later Midwestern University) players as the UH breezes to a 63-38 victory. The win was the second for the Big Red and White team in the Gulf Coast Conference race. * DICK BERG Forward and Center 314
