Transcript THE RADIO DEPARTMENT The progress that the University Radio Department has made in its three years of existence can be measured only in leaps and bounds. The completion of the Ezekiel Cullen Building will find the department moving into new quarters and the operation of FM station KUHF will begin. Above left is a scene of the Radio Guild's open house which was held in early fall. Above right shows Edgar Bergen conferring in March with the University radio staff, headed by Dr. Wilton Cook, chairman of Speech Arts (Radio, Speech, and Drama). THE JOURNALISM DEPARTMENT In addition to offering courses in almost every phase of journalism, the Journalism Department produces the Cougar and The Houstonian. Many new and specialized courses were offered this year by the department — trade publications and public relations for instance. New campus presses will soon be in operation. Above left is a picture of the Cougar staff getting ready to go to press with the University weekly and on the right is a shot of Jim Palmer, sponsor of the Cougar, and Elmer Bertlesen, former editor, as they look over a copy of the Cougar. N. S. Patterson is chairman, and Bruce Underwood is another full-time faculty member.
