Outnumbered, John Hadaway, Bearkat sparkplug, faces Bill Hollis (73), Frank Hurtte (66), Bill Bidwell (42), Ed Staggs (88), and Bill Myers (51) as four Bearkats look on helplessly. Bobcats Slip by Fighting Cougars 3-0 SAN MARCOS, Nov. 20.—A field goal late in the fourth quarter was all that saved Southwest Texas as the Cougars pushed the 1948 Lone Star Conference champs all over the field but failed to cross the Bobcat goal line. The Cougars moved into scoring territory three times during the first half with penetrations to | Bobcats their three-point victory. Alan Neveux passed to Max Clark who was stopped on the Southwest Texas 11 as the game ended. SWT UH First Downs Yards Rushing Passing Attempted Completed Intercepted the 16, three, and five yard lines. Each time, the Red and White team fumbled and the Bobcats recovered. Again In the third quarter, the Cougars drove to the Southwest Texas 26 before the Bobcat line stood firm. After getting to the Cougar five in the fourth quarter on a pass from George Mabe to Henry Jackson, the Bobcats paid their respects to a stalwart Cougar line by kicking a field goal from the Houston one-yard line.
