Transcript HOMECOMING DAY Before the rally, the carefully guarded bonfire was a chief attraction on the campus. The huge 60-foot bonfire, largest in the history of the University (or Houston), was cheered by more than 5000 spectators, ai a pre-game rally. Ending weeks of preparation, Homecoming Day this year came on a sunny day, November 6. Miss Marjorie Reynolds, movie star, Kern Tips, sportscaster, and Congressman Albert Thomas were special guests at pre-game pep rallies and other activities. Five captured Sam Houston students were also special guests at the bonfire and rally. This was the last capture made by either school during the hectic weeks in which University students guarded the bonfire day and night. Getting a story from Homecoming Queen finalists was John Carrigan of KPRC, a university ex-student. The candidates were, left to right, Delores Becker, Dorothy Elliott, Mary Lee Steinhort, and Ruthmary Anderson.
