Transcript The Buckaroo Riding Club OFFICERS President BETTY JANE BELL Vice-President JOYCE PARKER Secretary DOROTHEA REINHART Business Manager POFFY ROYSE Historian DOROTHY HERZOG Director of Publicity BETTY DURKIN Sergeant-at-Arms MARTHA HARRIS One of the most popular girls clubs on the campus is the Buckaroo Riding Club. The Club was initiated in 1938 and has had as its sponsor since that time Mr. Harvey W. Harris. Perhaps the most important event in the Buckaroo s year was their participation in the Fat Stock Show; the members helped make the show a success by selling tickets from downtown booths. Another important project was the club's part in the second National War Bond Drive, in cooperation with the Public Relations Department; the girls "roped" bond buyers off the streets of Houston and accumulated quite a sum to help slap the axis—about $125,000 in all. The main purpose of the club is to promote interest in riding and provide healthful recreation for girls.
