Transcript COLLEGIATE CALENDAR September 10—Large enrollment seen for college. Signed up 12. (pardon, we mean 1100). September i3^Smith sentenced to carry burden of Red Masque Players. Library enlarged by addition of 96 new volumes. Total number of books in library 97 (including the telephone directory). September 2.7—Fish feted and fighted. Paint flowed freely. (As did the com-plaint.) Frosh election. Miller clubs Jones into submission. October 4—Student countil meets (just meets). Cougar Collegians welcome freshmen (hy'a toots). Student Council sets up regulations for student association election. (Council members found ineligible for these offices.) October 16—"Have You A Basin," first Red Masque Play. (Price of soap goes up.) Sport program announced. Juniors sell cake to finance Prom. "Have You A Basin" received enthusiastically by Tomball audience. More money made off sale of candy than of tickets. University Chorus realistically renders (meaning to tear up) "The Elephant and The Chimpanzee." Edythe Reddick and Cornelius Bartholomew (C. B., Jr., to you) Doolan play title roles. November 4—Debaters start practice. Day college sets up student government board. Faculty sets up board to govern student board. Julian elected president of Studes Ass'n. (He musta counted the votes.) November 8—South resigns, saying he can't take it anymore. Glad he didn't take it (meaning the$.) December 16—Algerine Allen sent to Huntsville. (To the Sam Houston State Teachers Ball, you dopes.) December 18—"Howling Dog," a noisy success. Mavis and Betty were particularly effective in the kissing sequences. * January 14—Houstonian staff elected (Mercy on 'em). Debaters still practicing for first practice debate. February 5—Deadline announced for annual pictures. "Death Takes A Holiday" presented in "the stall." February 6—After scheduling Sugarland, Goose Creek, and Galveston. "Death Takes A Holiday" finally presented in Angleton. February 7—Second freshman reception (eight fish attend). February 14—Day College Valentine Dance (orchestra got lost trying to find Camp Beatty). February 15—Positively no more pictures taken for "Houstonian." —continued on page $2
