Transcript Fast-<A-Tton Muslim Student Association Most people wouldnever dream of abstaining from eating, drinking, and smoking for a full month out of the year; but for people of Islamic faith, the dream is a reality. Each year during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims observe Ramadan. Throughout this time, Muslims devote themselves to Allah by fasting and focusing on prayer. To help educate the public about the Islamic religion, the Muslim Student Association (MSA) at the University of Houston hosts its annual Ramadan Fast-a-Thon. Everyone is invited to attendthe event and celebrate with Muslims as they break their fast with a delicious feast. Non-Muslims who plan on attending the event are encouraged to pledge to fast that day. To raise money, MSA members seek out local businesses to sponsor each non-Muslim pledge. The money received is then donated to charity. Story By Kristin Reddoch Full House The University Center houses hundreds of students for the annual Muslim Student Association Fast-a-Thon. 100
