Transcript The Placement Center, which has been in existence since 1946, is one of the largest and most efficient in the nation. The Center, housed in a suite of offices in the Recreation Building, is operated free of charge and serves the entire student body and alumni. Miss Lou Russell, head of the Center, believes that anyone who wishes to obtain a college education can do so if he is willing to work. The Center fills a definite need at the University of Houston where nearly 80% of the students enrolled work full or part time. The staff of seventeen persons at the Placement Center gives professional assistance in choosing the right job for a student in his special field of interest. Over 5,000 employers in the Houston area cooperate with the Placement Center. Mrs. Faye Kendall, Acting Assistant Director; Howard Deehon, Counselor; MISS LOU RUSSELL, Director; Mrs. Jane Barefoot, Counselor. M. D. Anderson Memorial Library 28
