Indeed, this university distinguished itself as one of the most diverse schools in the nation. Many students at the University of Houston came from local high schools, but students enrolled from every state in the nation, and from more than one hundred countries around the world. This arrangement brought together a multitude of different ideas, languages, and cultures in the same place, and allowed UH students a diverse educational experience that few other universities around the country could match. The wide variance in lifestyles amongst students and faculty members offered a unique experience at the University of Houston which proved that the whole really was greater than the sum of its parts.
