Transcript Training For The Future r>3M— Army ROTC "To commission thejuture officer Wt* leadership of the U.S. Army." ROTC soilders in Bayonet training. Photo by Cesar Alvarez The Army ROTC was a program that provided college trained officers for the U.S. Army. The basic purpose of the ROTC program was to teach leadership and mangement skills to the students. Application of theory was emphasized by placing students in leadership roles within the corp of Cadets. ROTC offered different training while at UH. During the first year, confidence and leadership skills are developed. In the following year, the cadets took part in in- 188 m termediate leadership, introduction to tactical operations and land magement. In the last two years of college, considerably more detail was given to areas of leadership and mangement. Following graduation, ROTC Cadets are required to serve in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard or the U.S. Army Reserve. Its mission is "to commission the future officer leadership of the U. S.
