Transcript It is gonna be close as this player tries stealing third base.Photo by Thomas Nguyen. Bats On Fire The game was anything but a pitcher's duel, something we had not seen at Cougar Field if the high run production continued. Once again, luckily the bats were hot. UH pounded out 13 hits including four home runs and five doubles. They scored eight runs in the first two innings, and had a commanding 14-3 lead after six. James Wambach led the attack with a home run and three RBI. DH Steve Ousley also had a home run and three RBI. The other two homers were hit by Chris Tremie and Darin Foust. Vaughn Eshelman started out on the mound for the Cougars, shutting down the Bearkats during the first three innings and exited after the fifth. That was about the point the Head Coach Bragg Stockton began substituting players, usually a safe move with an 11 run lead. "He just wanted to give some other guys a chance to play,"Russell Stockton said. The second baseman was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. Freshman Jason Hart relieved Eshelman and pitched the sixth and seventh innings. Ace reliever Al Benavides the took overjthat's when trouble started. He gave up seven runs (four earned) on six hits through one and two-thirds innings. The Cougars, however, held onto the lead and came out with another victory. -Mike Rosen Waiting for the pitch the batter concentrates solely on the ball which is about to be thrown.
