GLSA held weekly educational meetings that included discussions of topics such as coming out, safer sex, and helping gay youth. GLSA also sponsored social events which helped educate the general public about coming out of the closet. The information table set up at the UC satellite on National Coming Out Day October 11 provided several interested students with materials and general information about the organization. GLSA is also affiliated off-campus in that the organization helps the Montrose Activity Center, a non-profit organization which serves as a shelter for several organizations within the gay community in Houston. The group as a whole stand strong on their beliefs and rights in defending their civil liberties, They hope that by making the public aware of AIDS and the importance of safe sex that their organization has made a difference. With a strong, democratic structure and active membership, GLSA remins a vital part of the diversity found at the University of Houston. -Troy Christensen. ais Oui!
