Kid Frost The Right To Vote ~T~he Rock The Vote I tour, which featured rappers Kid Frost and K.M.D., was brought to UH by the Student Program Board and Car- ribean Student Association. Rock The Vote is a political organization dedicated to protecting freedom of speech, educating young people about the political process and motivating people to register and vote. The organization was formed by members of the record industry in response to recent attacks on freedom of speech and artistic expression. The musicians on tour donated their time to tour college campuses around the country to encourage young people to exercise their voting rights. K.M.D. is made up of rappers Zevlove X and Onyx with DJ Subroc. Their mission is to uplift the conscience of the Nubian people. To K.M.D., the Nubian people are not just the Muslim slaves stolen from Africa in the 1600s, but a host of oppressed poples, including Latinos, Japanese, Sicilians, Indians, and black Americans. The messages in the songs are subtle and Onyx says the songs make "people want to strain the brain as a mental exercise to figure out what we're talking about." Kid Frost said that he is "being a conscience for those who don't have one, who don't think about things." -Scott Eastman 202 Orgamzjations fy^M.D. raps their message of free J^speech loud and clear in front of many at Lynn Eusan.
