It's Recycle Time A campus-wide effort to conserve \\ Tords like global y V warning, bi- odegradeable and recycling were more common as environmental issues took over public concern. And students with environmental concerns decided they wanted to keep these issues from dropping out of the public's conscience. "We want to launch a public-awareness campaign to let students know specifically what's out there, what's going on and how to get involved and start helping," Stephanie Long, SA legislative intern, said. "There's a lot to do in campus awareness," Fred Saucedo, director of external affairs in the SA Executive Cabinet, said. With the help of SA, they began publicizing the environmental programs on campus and discussing the most important issues. "SA can be the center of bringing in this effort," Saucedo said. "Recycling is important and it's the easiest to get people involved in, especially with the paper. And there's such a vast abundance of it and there's so many ways you can get it recycled," Long said. Although they hope to recycle various products later, they'll start with pa per, Long said. "It's (paper) something small and if you get people involved with something small, then it's easier to go on to more big recycable things later." Long and Saucaedo planned to launch the campaign in the fall along with an environmental day in either the fall or spring semester. "We're going to ask specific local organizations to come onto campus and speak briefly on certain topics or bring information dealing with specific environmental issues," Long said.-Saki Indakwa The University Dance Theater's Recital Project was can recycling.
