Transcript %cady or 9{gt... you've done it. You can honestly feel as if you have accomplished something that you have worked really hard for. But are you ready to face the "Real World"? Graduation was a time in life that almost everyone looks forward to in some way or the other. Yes, gone are the days of fraternity parties, hanging out in the University Center and the Cougar Den; but so were professors from hell, finals, and walking from one side of the campus to the other in one of many frequent downpours. Now you could look forward to a full-time career, mortgages, taxes, marriage, and children. You've worked hard for it. You've EARNED it. Ginny Southerland said, "I can't believe it; it seems so unreal that all of this is finally over.". But, it was. May 18, 1991 was the first day of the rest of your life. Mike Loria said, "I feel like I was a freshman just yesterday. All of a sudden it just hits you in the face.". And hits you it does — a little too quickly. Henry Reyna said, "I'm a graduate without a job.". Unfortunatly this seems to be an "unwelcomed truth that many graduates are faced with. They have the credentials and €6 I can't believe it; it seems so unreal that all of this is finally over. the diploma but no job." "It almost makes everything I have worked for seem meaningless when I have the education and experience, but no occupation to show for it," said Jeff Whitburn. Despite the fact that many graduates were jobless, some were op timistic. Carey Smith said, "Even though I don't have a really great job yet, I'm still waiting to hear from some different corporations that have my resume. It just takes time and patience." While there were students that were jobless, some were able to find jobs almost immediately after graduation. "I had contacted a local firm that I was interested in a couple of semesters ago, but they told me to wait until I graduated and then send them my resume. I kept calling and asking if they had any openings, even for a gopher. They relented and let me start working there. Now that I have graduated I have been automatically promoted and am up for major position," said Kyle Williams. But while graduation centered on your future, it did not focus solely on your professional future. Having a job was extremely important, but their were other important things. /~L raduation was held in Hofheinz Pavilion. ^-* Ceremonies for each college and for the whole university.
