Photo by Prebble McLaughlin. Baring it all a I hey are here. The infamous strip bars which seemingly sprout up overnight. Rick's,a popular spot for men, had been in business for over eight years. Many of their dancers appeared in magazines such as Playboy and Penthouse. Managers at The Men's Club said a good dancer can make up to $1000 a weekend. This made many people reconsider this line of work. "If I really needed the money and couldn't get any other job, I'd rather be a dancer than a prostitute or something," said Tonia Thomas, sophomore. La Bare is Houston's only strip bar for ladies. The men can make almost $1500 in a good three-day weekend. They host an amateur night, in which any man who feels they have the right stuff can hop up on the stage. Despite the amount of money to be I like to go.. .and just sit back and watch all of the action. made, some people still cannot understand why someone would want to work or even go to a strip bar. "I have no desire to meet someone at a place like that." said Mark Anderson, Jr. On the other hand, some guys think it is the answer to the "look but don't touch" problem. Said Sean Williams, "I like to go to Lipstick and just sit back and watch all of the action. Sure my girlfriend hates it, but all I'm doing is looking." Although the opinions are divided, it certainly seems that the idea of strip bars has caught on here in Houston as we have almost ten popular strip bars. While it's true that the girls are usually voluptuous and and the men usually muscular, you don't have to have a Barbie doll's measurements to do well.
