Transcript Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures CULVER CITY CALIFORNIA January 18, 1939 Mr. Jack Palmer, Editor "The Houstonian", 2905 Hamilton Street Houston, Texas Dear Mr. Palmer: I am returning to you, herewith, my selections of the eight most beautiful girls for the Vanity Fair section of the 1939 Houstonian. I had almost forgotten how beautiful Texas girls can be. I can assure you that my job was a difficult one. I have tried to take into account as much as possible the disadvantage of looking at photographs over actually seeing the girls in person. There has been a feeling of regret about th whole procedure as if I were saying to the girls who were eliminated that I didn't consider them as beautiful. Had I been able to follow my own in- clination, I wouldn have sent all pictures back with instructions to publish all and to give them all first prize. When I accepted the assigment, I did not believe that it were possible to send me eigh- teen pictures of such beautiful girls. However, I hope my selections will prove satisfactory to you all. With my best wishes, Sincerely, King Vidor
