Transcript Sti incrMTO' A conn ATinM The executive board of Students' Association: (Back) Giovanni Garibay, Dom TUDENTS MbbUU AIIUN Lewinsohn! Doug Miuer> (front) Kay To, Thasunda Brown, Jennifer Zuber. The Students' Association is the official representative voice of the University of Houston student body. The president, vice president, student regent and SA senators are elected by the entire student body. Some of SA's important objectives are: —Represent UH students and their concerns in Austin and Washington, D.C. —Focus on university student life issues that impact all students —Create links with other Texas universities through the Texas Student Association Reaching these objectives is a tough job. Because of this, each UH college has representative students to voice the concerns and needs of their constituents. SA's greatest influence on campus is through the many committees that students are a part of. There are more than 30 committees that meet regularly with administrators, faculty and the other members of the UH community. This is where the real power is. All it takes to serve on one of these committees is stopping by our office. Serving as your student body president over the past year has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The opportunity to have a say in how my university is run and to be able to actually make a difference is what the Students' Association is all about. I would recommend to all students to become involved in campus government, for this is strongly how to learn the lessons that no lecture hall can impart. It is a year of hard work that requires full dedication; a high pride that yields great rewards. The position can provide the skills necessary for a successful business or political career, or simply allow you to make your mark on this fine institution. In retrospect, I am honored to have been the president of the 32nd Administration and I hope that the work we did pays off for years to come. May God bless you, and go Coogs! -Giovanni Garibay Students' Association President u
