Transcript (Left to right) Senior business major Ahmed Sabih, junior architecture major Ed Gonzalez, and junior engineering major Ha Bui show their feminine side at "The Greatest Sex Show On Earth." Students enjoy themselves at "Passport to the World": (from left) Trang Dang, junior optometry major; Thanh Troung. freshman business major; Van Trang, sophomore pharmacy major; and Mai Tran Bui, sophomore pre- optometry major. The Moody Towers Commons and the Oberholtzer lounge are papered in posters advertising trips to the Renaissance Festival, horseback riding, exotic cuisine, and sex shows. Daily, residents walk by and wonder why these loud and often gaudy decorations are hanging in their buildings. A little-known and large part of a Resident Advisor's job is programming. Programming is creating activities, events, and trips to educate, entertain, and enlighten the inhabitants of the residential halls. A Resident Advisor, or R.A., is required to complete five programs per semester, 10 per academic year. These programs are broken down into three types: two large programs, six educational programs, and four social or community service programs. One such successful educational program is "The Greatest Sex Show on Earth" Its success stems from its combination of education, entertainment, and social consciousness. Another successful annual program is the Diversity Fair. This year it was called "Passport to the World." "We try to find an area that residents need more information on Subjects such as safe sex, drug and alcohol abuse, good study aids and habits, and job searches. Residents are more receptive to learning about these in a program than in a regular lecture," said John Krippel, assistant area coordinator of the Quadrangle. -by Sarah L. Fredricksen
