COOK Chairman Division of Fine Arts Radio Department RADIO FACULTY—Left to right: Mr. Zachery, Miss Vaughn, Mr. Franklin, Miss Thorson, Miss Hubbard, Mr. Davis, Mr. LaFond, Department Chairman Mr. Schwarz- walder, Mr. Quick, and Mr. Welch. Since its appearance in 1947, the radio broadcasting department has shot up in stature like a healthy adolescent. It moved this year from three small studios above the cafeteria to new studios in the Ezekiel Cullen building. The $400,000 studios of KUHF are reputed to be among the best equipped studios in the country. Sixty per cent of the FM station's programs are "live," giving students a new broadcasting workshop and listeners a prevue of new and different air talent. Television is offered by the department, as well as most phases of radio. John Schwarzwalder is head of this department. Speech Department Curriculum of the University speech department includes public speaking, speech correction, lip reading, audiometry, and hearing therapy. Dr. Wilton W. Cook, chairman of the Division of Fine Arts, is coordinator of this department which offers thirty-seven courses. SPEECH FACULTY—Standing, left to right: Mr. Barn- hart, Mr. Black, Mr. Crosson.
