The University of Houston branch of the American Pharmaceutical Association was inaugurated this year on the campus. It is a national organization of people interested in the profession of Pharmacy, both from the standpoint of prescription work as well as from the standpoint of manufacturing and hospital work. Establishment of this student branch brings the student into close contact with the work of the National Association and in so doing not only informs students of its activities but also trains them as leaders of the future. All students of the College of Pharmacy are eligible for membership and the club is striving for a 100 per cent membership this year. The student branch has taken over the activities of the Mortar and Pestle club. These activities include outstanding speakers from retail drug stores as well as pharmaceutical industries together with other special programs. The meetings of the branch are during Pharmacy orientation each week. 115
