Each cadet is elected to membership and must be "an officer and a gentleman." The society fosters competition among corps' officers. Each morning members of Scabbard and Blade raise the flag in front of Ezekiel Cullen building in an impressive ceremony. Other activities of the group include a Christmas party, a spring formal and the Military Ball. Distinguished Military Graduates are Ronald Smith, John W. Howard and Darrell Heinrich. 293
