It does this through the total vision care program of the College of Optometry and a visual screening facility that is available to the public. In order that students in optometry might know what advances the profession is making, the group provides educational speakers for its student body, both in optometry and also in related fields. In addition, the organization encourages and sponsors students who wish to attend local, state and national professional conventions and assemblies. Social activities of the Optometric Society include a Christmas Dance and a spring picnic. The group also sponsors an athletic team which takes an active part in university intramural sports. Service projects include visual surveys for the university and for local public schools. For the convenience and pleasure ot all optometry students, the society maintains a student lounge in the basement of the Science Building, home of the College of Optometry. OFFICERS R.
