Transcript McWhirter flies 11 yards for only U of H touchdown. houston 10 Oklahoma a&m . . 7 STILLWATER, OKLA., Oct. 4—A thrilling touchdown in the final four minutes brought the trailing Cougars a 10-7 triumph over Oklahoma A&M at Lewis Field. This was the first Missouri Valley Conference game of 1952 for the Cougars. Actually, the difference was a field goal sent through the uprights by Verle Cray early in the first period, his second in as many games. Again that stout Cougar defensive line and secondary must take credit as they held the Cowpokes' offense to a combined total of 62 yards both rushing and passing. Six fumbles, four of them within the Houston 35 yard line provided the Ags their only touchdown late in the second period as Jones plunged over center from the one yard line. f-»a*/ The Cougars' lone touchdown came in the form of a snap from center. The Aggies' Ken McCullough was back to punt on fourth down and the pass from center came back about ankle high. As he juggled the ball, the Cougar linemen swamped him under and gave the U of H possession of the ball on the A&M 25 yard line. McWhirter and Carr brought the ball to the 11, where, on second down, McWhirter took a pitchout from Clatterbuck and swept right end for the score. S. M. Meeks, for the second straight game, led all individual carriers with 70 yards in 12 tries. S. M. MEEKS Back All-Conference First Downs _ UofH 14 Okla.
