CULLEN Dedication of the 1945 Houstoni;m It is with the sincerest feeling of gratitude and respect that the staff of the 1945 Houstonian dedicates the 1945 yearbook of the University to the first president of the Board of Regents and his wife —Mr. and Mrs. H. R. CuIIen: Gratitude on behalf of the University for their fine and generous Peoefactions to the University of Houston and, through the University, to the cause of education. One memorial to their generosity, as well as to their late son, Roy Gustav CuIIen, has already been a matter of comfort and convenience to thousands of former and present students who have studied in its modern classrooms. This is the Roy Gustav CuIIen Memorial Building. Another is the recent oil grant which will permit, among other things, the erection of a great modern educational structure to complete the main University of Houston quadrangle . . . Gratitude, too, in common with thousands of other Houstonians, for the uncounted instances of kindly and humanitarian giving to causes of good and mercy, as typified by the four gifts of this past year to hospital developments so badly needed by Houston . But an even deeper gratitude for the abiding interest of these two Houstonians in the cause of education which leads them to give so much of their time and good services to the over-all planning of the University of Houston's development. This has been well exemplified by the fact that Mr. CuIIen has agreed as a public-spirited citizen to serve in the important position of chair-
