Legions of Cougar fans showed their support. The Cougars were underdogs against the SEC opponent but proved their football prominence. Senior Quarterback Kevin Kolb (making his 50th start of his career) finished the game 26-of-39 with three touchdowns and 386 yards of total offense. The overall Cougar offense rained in 555 yards of total offense. Cougar Wide Receiver Vincent Marshall seta Liberty Bowl record of 201 receiving yards. The Cougars used their explosive offense in the first halt leading 28-27. In the second half, the Gamecock defense held the Cougar faithful to only 200 yards in the second half (totaling a whopping 571 total yards on both sides of the ball). The Cougars fell short 44-36, but fans remained proud and walked away with much optimism. "Many critics thought we would be blown away by an SEC team , but we gave them a run for their money," said senior James Moore after the game ended. More anticipation is building around next year's season as many pivotal seniors move on to the next level.
