Transcript 1936-38 The Cougar had thirty staff members in 1936; it aided in the promotion of school activities then as now . . . The Cougar Collegians held a bayshore party, a Christmas tea, and a dance at the Junior League . . . The 1936 High School Reception was held at the City Auditorium because of the large crowd; the cut above shows their majesties of the 38 Reception . . . The Red Masque Club was host to a drama tournament; its outstanding production was Death Takes a Holiday.. . . 1936 saw the organization of the Society of Engineers ... the Junior Dance was held April 24; Mr. Halden and Mr. French were class sponsors (both professors are now in the service) ... In 1936 the Collegiate Dramatic Society began with its first production, Apron Strings ... In 1937, Italy and Germany unofficially aided the Franco revolt in Spain while England, France, and the United States observed "neutrality," and the following year Hitler consummated the Austrian coup, thus facilitating dismemberment of Czechoslovakia in September.
