Transcript The Theoretical System of Karl Marx By LOUIS B. BOUDIN This work is a classic. It explains, clearly and fully, not only the principles of Marxian economics and sociology, but also the theoretical methods of Karl Marx. The authors original intention was simply to expose the "revisionist" movement. He wrote the book before the Great War, which has since proved conclusively how disastrous the "revision" of Marxism was to the socialist parties of the warring nations. Since Louis B. Boudin realized that American and English readers would for the most part be unable to follow his arguments against revisionism, he was obliged to give most of his space to an explanation of Marxism itself. The author says of his work: 'It is not meant as a text-book of Marxian teaching, but as an introduction to the study of Marx, and as an aid to the understanding of him.' Some of the notable chapters are: Karl Marx and His Latter-Day Critics. The Materialistic Conception of History and Its Critics. Value and Surplus Value. The Labor Theory of Value and Its Critics. The Great Contradiction in the Marxian Theory of Value. Economic Contradictions and the Passing of Capitalism. The Concentration of Capital and the Disappearance of the Middle Class. The Proletariat and the Revolution. The Social Revolution. To the student of Marxism this work is an invaluable aid, Boudin being generally regarded as America's ablest Marxian scholar. Cloth, library style, 286 large pages, $1.25 postpaid. CHARLES H. KERR & COMPANY CO-OPERATIVE BOOK PUBLISHERS CHICAGO
