Description Typewritten letter signed by Clemente N. Idar, dated Corpus Christi, Texas, October 21, 1927, on letterhead stationery of the Metropolitan Cafe, Ben Garza, Manager., to Alonso S. Perales, praising his community work and offering assistance. The first Mexican American organizer in the mainstream labor movement, Idar worked as an organizer for the American Federation of Labor and was a writer and orator as well.

WI feel very much encouraged and more firmly than ever to do all within my power to bring about the organization in Texas of American citizens of Latin descent• " That is just the way I wanted to see you write. Organize and Educate! Donft let any man stand in your way If such is your policy. No man is big enough to stop your activities if your goal is to achieve human betterment* I feel that you should seek a private conference with Ben Garza*, and after having Canales in with you quietly agree upon the definite policy you will follow in case the Order Sons of America wants to form an alliance with you all* Ben Garza is a man of great practical common sense* a gentleman, a good American and a man of very high standing in this community* Get Benfs understanding of the ground upon which you seek to stand* Faithfully.
