Description Typewritten letter signed by Ben Garza, dated Corpus Christi, Texas, August 22, 1928, on letterhead stationery of his Metropolitan Cafe, to Alonso S. Perales in Managua, Nicaragua, discussing the difficulties of merging the various councils of the Order of Sons of America (Orden Hijos de America) to form an alliance with the League of Latin American Citizens. Ben (Bernardo F.) Garza was one of the founding members of the OSA in the early 1920s and later became the first president of The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).

Perales♦ Managua,Nicaragua• M^ dear friend Perales: It has b en exacley two months today,since you wrote me your last letterfbut I did not care to answer it untill I had at least some fairily good news for you* So today I though I write youfin the first Kift^e hoping that you and Mrs, Perales are enjoing you selves andryoa be in the best of health,and second to tell ycu that we are working slowly but sure tn trying as to how we should doto merge all of the three Organizatd* -ons o The hardest part comes when it comes to merge the Sons of America, with out the consent of Mr; Tafolla# Of course when it comes to counc/*- no.4 we could desert the Order and join yoursfbut as we have allreafc establish such a good reputation in this town,we hate to loose what we have allready acompj^ished* Basils we would loose all of the near Councils that we stablisH. So now we are working in some skime^as how to do all of this things so everybody will be satisfy at the same time. We have a comunication for the Knights,in which they state that they are combing to Corpus Christi in the next few days to have another coference with us in regards to this matter, in which I hope we will come to some understanding as to how we are going do.
