(2) Yes my son Anson Jones ((((((<>))))))) Yes my son I am glad you sat down I wanted to write you . You are doing very well here but in some things you can yet improve you need a little more tact and policy about trading. you are most too blunt but I think you will acquire this after a while with some study and prac - tice. You should be a little more industrious too you would please Mr Sydum better though you are serving him very well now which I am glad to see I hope you will spare no pains to please him. You can do well here if you will . Endeavor to act honestly and honorably in all things. It will add greatly to your esteem together with strict attention specially as you are probably looked at our of one corner of the eye. yes Set no reproach of that kind be cast upon you. Sharp eyes are watching you. Act as if you prided yourself on honor - able parentage, and disdained to cast -------------------------------------------------- a blot upon it . Honesty is one of the best ways to do this. You will then be honored no matter what your station. I desire to see you succeed and please your employee. You should attend to your prayers more recollect you are dependant on the supreme one for every blessing you enjoy. I am glad you are leaving off that per nicious habit You will improve by it. You must learn to best the books it will insure you better wages. but I will advise you some other time, for the present good night from your loving father Anson Jones
