Transcript Willis Feby 14th./79 My Dear Son Yours of the 9th received sev- eral days since. And I have intended writing you a long letter, but my gardening & other little cares have consumed all my time & This morning early Mrs Grove sent for me as she is all alone and sick and I have been with her all of my spare time today. Can you send me up a few dollars, now in case you do not have it to spare five dollars will answer until the end of this month. I owe for my chairs, and Irish potatoes, but no doubt Mr Caldwell can wait with me a while longer. My plan of gardening is to not invest more than eight dollars in seed & work. I hope to have that much return in what I raise --------------------------------------------- In all these things my dear son I will be careful of spending as I would like if possible to live within my income. I have paid Mr. Jaycope for one months rent Ell & myself are both very well Affectionately Your Mother Mary Jones.
