Transcript Willis Nov. 1st 1878 My Dear Son I have intended and wished very much to write you every day this week but have been so much disturbed in mind I could not well do so, until for- -ced to do so up to it from necessity. I am entirely out of money. please send me some at the earliest time possible I am holding on here for the present until I can see you, as you suggested until after the Election. I could no- -doubt get accommodations out at Mrs. Goldings, but have not had the heart to even make the enquiry. Upon the arrival of the Democratic [ ] here Yesterday Gaston was called upon to make some remarks upon certain new developments and information coming to light in which Mr. Dunn & Linton had acted a prominent part. And of course some ------------------------------------------------------- pretty strong language was used, everything however is quiet, and I pray may so remain until the election is over. It is said more arrests are contemplated, or talked of by the Radical party, likely to occur at any moment. I hope not as excitement is at an undesirable pitch already. Sallie is engaging scholars for another effort at teaching, will organize next Monday but not begin teaching until the election excitement of next Tuesday is over. I believe her plan is to teach in her own house, and of course cannot do much until I can get out of the room. Gaston has not been paid for his horse yet that was killed by the R Road Tell Mrs. Ashe how much I regretted hearing of dear little Sallies illness and that I will write her soon. Much love to them all. And your dear self included Affectionately Your Mother Mary Jones --------------------------------------------------------- We are all delighted to see the Telegram come our so boldly in vindication of the Montgomery troubles. Oh I have so much to tell you when we meet. I hope you send Papers to Sam posting his a little. I have not been able to send any of late for want of Postage-stamps. Have not seen the Enter- prise of today. We expect it will say something May success be with us all both here & in Harris, is my constant prayer MJ.
