Transcript Nov 28th, 1869 [In another’s hand] Galveston on Board Whitelane My Darling Son I went down last Wednsday, and as strange as it may seem have not had time to write you while in the City. The night of the day I arrived Mrs Harrison was taken worse and I was up with her nearly all night, after losing the previ- ous nights sleep of course I have not felt well since, But one or two neghts sleep will reestablish me I hope, I made a full and satisfac- tory settlement with Mrs H which is a relief to me. Your letter to her gave much satisfaction and will be answer- ed soon. Miss H has complete contoll of _____ so make it be I say. I stoped with our old friend Mrs Willie whom I found just the some as of old, Her and her partner will desolve on -------------------------------------------------- on Wednsday next & Mrs Willie will contin- ue the business in the same house alone I think she will do well once she gets the house furnished and paid for You need not be surprised if I go down and take an interest in it with her, but more about this at an other time or I may see you. So far as I know my trip has not brought any benefit yet I may have started the tide in the some of our interests I will write you more fully after I get home and talk up matters with the family As ever Your loving Mother Mary Jones [Integral address leaf] Jr. C A Jones L:ynchburg
