Title Elevated view of Main Street from Lamar Avenue
Date 1927
Description A view from an elevated position on Main Street looking north from Lamar Avenue. Construction of several buildings under way illustrates the downtown building boom of 1927. The Neils Esperson building, the Lamar Hotel, the west wing of the Rice Hotel, an addition to the Second National Bank building, and the Kirby building are all shown in various stages of construction. Also visible in the lower left of the photograph along McKinney Avenue is the old Carnegie Library next to the First Presbyterian Church. (p. 20-21 "Houston: The Feast Years")
