Transcript The French Quarter attempts to recapture the spirit that the French influence had in America during the nineteenth century. This spirit of gaiety and festivity is climaxed by the Mardi Gras celebration, which was held in Galveston during late 1800's. From the time of the first celebration, the Mardi Gras became an American institution, eagerly anticipated by all. This year, we present the Mardi Gras as seen by visitors that are introduced to the revelry for the first time.
