Transcript JC W >MC =fr>"W 4X &, The Good Old Days Are Back Again By MARGARET KRUEGER Frontier Fiesta is back again! These words have been in the mind of the University students for the past two months, and these three nights are the realization of these words and of the work that made it possible. The return of the Frontier Fiesta had been in the minds of students for a year or more after the war ended. The old students were coming back, the school was returning to its pre-war status, and something was needed to bring the old and the new students together. It really started in the spring of 1946. Student government elections were being held and the majority of students running for office ran on the ticket, "The Return of the Frontier Fiesta." The majority of students running on this ticket were elected and performed their duties throughout the year. Then in the spring, a bill was introduced to the Student Council by Johnny Goyen to bring back the Fiesta in all its glory. It was passed unanimously by both the Council and the Student Assembly and the bill became an act. Then the work on the Fiesta really began. The administration of the University approved the bill, Goyen was appointed general chairman of the Frontier Fiesta and the Fiesta started taking shape. A frontier town started taking shape on the old parking lot, slabs were hauled to give the town a western atmosphere, 600 students started growing beards, trying to win some of the numerous prizes that were donated by various firms in Houston, and the Fiesta, after many hours of hard, back-breaking labor, was finished. It is to the students of the University of Houston that the credit for the success of the Fiesta should be given. Without the aid of all the students the Fiesta would not have ever returned to the campus to bring a touch of the Old West to Houston for these three nights. ^2I0P IOI XIT
