Transcript HOUSTON VOICE/ MARCH 29. 1996 25 Early Bird Tourney The Montrose Softball League (MSL) held its first Early Bird Tournament Sunday, March 24 at Memorial Park. The constant drizzle and at times downpours did not dampen the spirits of the participants, as play continued from 9:00 a.m. until almost 8:00 p.m. Tournament director Jackie Gilbert deemed the tournament a complete sue- In the "A" division, a round robin preliminary was held to select seedings for the double elimination finals. Bases Loaded came out on top with Jerry's Kids and Hyde Park Gallery finishing out the division. In the double elimination finals. Bases Loaded beat both Hyde Park Gallery and Jerry's Kids to force a final game with the latter. Jerry's Kids valiantly fought of Bases Loaded twice in a row io capture the 1st Early Bird Tournament "A" Division crown. In the "B" Division. Chances defeated the Loan Rangers. Club Inergy and Pacific Street to go undefeated in the 1st round. Pacific Street beat Rich's Staff and Rich's Prime who had just lost to the Packers. The Packers went on to defeat Rich's Staff and Club Inergy. Rich's Prime rallied to defeat the Loan Rangers, Pacific Streel and Club Inergy to face undefeated Chances in the final game. It took a last inning rally by Chances to overcome the scrappy Rich's Prime team to emerge as the "B" Division 1st Early Bird Tournament champions. Congratulations to all of the participants in ihe Early Bird Tournament. MSL is a co-ed organization, still looking for male and female players, but time is running out. Bowling Standings The Montrose Monday Night Men's League report*, ihe following standings for the second week of playoffs I Watches, 4 Play is in 1st place. Snow White & Black Beauties in 2nd and The Queen Sick Court is third. Striking Beauties heads the rolloff wilh Mayfair Bitches in 2nd and Stokus Pokus in third High scratch game of 269 and series of 687 was howled by Bob Roberis. For more info call Gardy at 641-5424. Bowling is at Palace Lanes at 9:00 p.m. Mondays. New summer league begins April 15, The Inner Loop Alternative Sunday Eve- niiij! League reports that Screw It is in 1st place, Sncky Wickets in 2nd and Too Wong Fo U? in third. For the men, Bob Roberts bowled high scratch game of 256 and series of 664. The Wednesday Night Miners with one week to go reports Three Men and A Babe in first place. Take It Like A Man second and in third. Half* Half. J.R.'s Cue Crew has a won match average of .889 and the Jackson 5 is in third position with an average of .750 On an individual level. Billy Lea of the team Coalition leads with a won game average of .917. Charlie Clay. BP; Martin Diaz. Mary's Naturals; Steven Kendrick, Coalition; and Gary Wood, J.R.'s Cue crew are all averaging .708 per cent of games won. The thought from the rule book for the week is: "When a foul is committed on the break, the player is required to shoot the cue ball from behind the headstring." Lone Star Volleyball The 8th Annual Lone Star Volleyball Classic is scheduled for April 5 and 6 at the University of St. Thomas Jerebeck Gym and Texas Southern University.
